1983 Gibson Corvus I. Serial: 81733519
In the early 80s Gibson were trying anything to help the dwindling guitar sales of the their higher priced models by creating an array of cheaper guitars to contend with the Far East. The Corvus was one of those models, it now features in many "What Were They Thinking" articles. The weird shape is the result of it originally being designed as a headless guitar, so the tuners would have been located in the cutaway at the bodies base. But the bosses didnt like the idea of not having a headstock to put the brand name on, so the Corvus (meaning Raven in Latin) was born.
This one has an added stop tailpiece and a replaced bridge.
